Possible Ban On Flying With Vape Gear

Over the weekend, multiple outlets reported on a new amendment to H.R. 636 which is a bill that was passed by the House of Representatives in 2015. The bill is titled "America's Small Business Tax Relief Act of 2015". This new amendment (S.A. 3547) would prohibit airline passengers from bringing “electronic smoking devices” on planes in their carry-on and checked baggage. 

The grounds of S.A. 3547 is that vape gear, specifically lithium ion batteries, are a danger to passengers. As you're probably aware, your cell phone, tablet and laptop have lithium ion batteries. The bill doesn't speak to those devices being a danger, just vape related items.

CASAA (Consumer Advocates for Smoke-free Alternatives Association) put together a form to email your senator and urge them to oppose this amendment. Please take some time today and head over to CASAA's blog post and send an email.
