Study Reveals: People Who Vape Are Less Likely To Develop The Common Cold

New study shows vapers are less likely to have respiratory infections

Fall is right around the corner, which means that runny noses, hacking your head off and sneezing your brains out is probably soon to follow. Most people choose to up their vitamin intake, making sure to get their daily dose of vitamin C and any other sort of supplements to try to avoid coming down with the common cold. However, according to a new study from Queen Mary University of London, former smokers who have switched to vaping said that they had fewer respiratory infections.

Show me your numbers

  • Over 900 new vapers participated in the study
  • 66% reported an improvement in overall respiratory function
  • Only 29% reported that there was no change in respiratory function
  • Only 6% said that respiratory function was worsening

Don't ditch that vitamin C just yet

Senior author, Professor Peter Hajek from QMUL said "The study needs to be interpreted with caution because it is based on self-reported data, and further studies using objective measures are needed. However, the present results provide sufficient information to suggest that vaping does not increase infection rates and may in fact lead to a decrease in infections."

The bottom line is that smoking regular cigarettes when you have a nasty cold is pretty much the worst thing you could possibly put into your failing respiratory system. It's nice to think that all you might need to kick your cold is some mentholated Chill Pill, but don't take that to the bank. Get your vitamin C in year round, wash your hands and if you're sick STAY HOME!
